The Model M42 was later in the war and was designed to save manufacturing time by continuing the pressed air vent and to stop rolling the edge rim. Similar to the M35 in construction except the air vent was now pressed into the metal and not a separate piece. Camouflage was often applied which also covered the original finish. Most M35s are double decal, but as the war progressed, the semi gloss of the M35 was sometimes reissued with a dull textured finish covering one or both decals.
